Terms of service

Last updated: 2026-05-02

Welcome to Folio. By using the app you agree to these terms. They’re written in plain English so you can actually read them.

Who Folio is for

Folio is built for solo operators of Australian small businesses who are GST-registered and bill in AUD (with optional non-AUD export invoices). If you’re a multi-employee firm or you need agency-style features, this app probably isn’t the right fit.

Your data is yours

Everything you create in Folio lives in your own Firebase project. We don’t have access to it, and you can export or delete it at any time. See the privacy policy for the details.

ATO compliance — what Folio does and doesn’t promise

Folio’s PDF template includes the ATO’s mandatory tax-invoice fields (“Tax Invoice”, business name + ABN, issue date, buyer name on invoices ≥ $1,000, line items with description / qty / price, GST line). The underlying math (per-line rounding, mixed-rate breakdown wording) follows the ATO-accepted Xero/MYOB convention.

Folio is not accounting software, an accountant, or a registered tax agent. We don’t validate your business is correctly registered for GST, that your line items are accurately classified, or that your prices include or exclude GST as required. You are responsible for the correctness of every invoice you issue.

If you’re unsure whether an invoice complies with your obligations, consult a registered tax agent.

Acceptable use

Don’t use Folio to issue invoices for goods or services you can’t legally provide, or to disguise transactions. Don’t try to break or abuse the app — Folio sends emails through SendGrid on your behalf, and abusing that pipe is a fast way to get your SendGrid account suspended.

Email sending

When you tap Send, Folio’s Cloud Function calls SendGrid using your configured API key. The email lands at the address you typed. Delivery is best-effort — Folio cannot guarantee any specific email arrives, and isn’t responsible for emails that bounce, end up in spam, or are filtered by the recipient’s mail server.

Liability

Folio is provided “as is” with no warranty. We’re not liable for any loss arising out of your use of the app — including but not limited to revenue lost because an invoice didn’t send, accounting errors, or disputes with clients over invoice content. Use the app’s CSV / PDF export features regularly to keep offline backups of your records.

Changes

We can change these terms at any time. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated date at the top. Your continued use after a change counts as acceptance.
